Homeschool With Index Cards Not Just for Flashcards Anymore!
Assignment Cards
One of the things I get asked all the time is how to use the Assignment Cards. This set was initially created to meet the needs of someone else who asked for me to create them. So, I had never used them, until this year. I have to tell you that I love them! There are so many things you can do with the sets.
Lesson planning for me has just gotten so much easier. I have always used a box chart for each quarter. This time, I used the chart to get an overview of what I wanted to teach, then put all the specifics on the Assignment Card. For example, I am currently using the lined and blank Bible cards. I have one blank Bible card for each kid. I wrote on the card the directions for their Bible reading each morning. Then I used a lined Bible card for myself to keep track of each day's reading: Breakfast Devotion, Personal Reading Time, Lunch Devotion, and AWOA reading (since we are using the unit study A World of Adventure by Dorian Holt).
For Science, I have been able to keep track of all our daily reading and experiments on one index card. I am able to write out the books, page numbers, experiments, and I can even use the back for the experiment "ingredients".
I am a tad bit of a micro-manager, so I like to have 1 card per subject per day. If you prefer, you would also be able to simply use 1 "days of the week" card and keep track of your assignments for the week for each subject. The thing I love about this set is the versatility of the cards! I am finding new things to do with them each day--and love it!
