Homeschool With Index Cards
Homeschool With Index Cards Not Just for Flashcards Anymore!
|
Are you tired of trying to keep all your activities organized in a small monthly calendar
with boxes that are only a total of 1" square? After many unsuccessful attempts to find
the perfect calendar/planner, I have decided to make my own. Of course, it is out of
index cards.
For years, I have used index cards for many planning items, but recently, I decided to
create an official mini-planner that I would be able to keep in my purse at all times. I
designed this mini-planner so each day is it's own index card. This gives me plenty of
space to write our appointments, practices, meetings, etc. I also use the back side to
write any notes that I may need for that day's activities.
With the mini-planner, I have added other goodies, such as a Notes Page, Menu Planner,
quick Grocery List, Daily To Do List Page, Month at a Glance Pages, Week at a Glance
Pages, Contact Keeper (aka addresses and phone numbers), as well as pages for Items to
Buy, and Library Book Info.
I felt these items were the ones I would need to start with. I have been very happy with
my Mom's Mini-Planner. I also have been keeping my Diet and Exercise card in it, so I can
be sure to find it when I need it. It also is great when we eat out, so I can keep track of
my eating on the go!
I keep my planner/calendar pages in a mini-binder. I have used blank mini-binder tabbed
dividers to make a divider for each month. The one downfall with this system is that
there are no binders thick enough to hold all the cards for the entire year. The idea I
came up with to supplement this problem was the Month At a Glance page. Each month
has a lined page with the dates listed so I can have a quick place to keep track of anything
I may need for that month. I have found I am able to keep around 4 months worth of
cards in the binder at one time, as well as a few extra pages for notes, menus, etc. The
Month at a Glance pages are also useful for keeping track of items that repeat each year
such as birthdays and anniversaries. There is also a monthly dated calendar which has a
regular blocked calendar page for each month.
The set also comes with a guide to help you set up the Mom's Mini-Planner. There are
instructions on how to set up either a basic planner or ideas on how to adapt your planner
with the extra goodies included in the set.
I have enjoyed this planner so much, that I wanted to share it with everyone! I hope you
find it affordable, as after you make the initial purchase, you will be able to reuse it year
after year.

This is by no means the only way to use the planner, as I have
tried to create it to suit many uses and personalities. These

wanted to give you a visual of the planner.
